Power Transmission - Electrical Terms

Air Circuit Breakers: These are used to interrupt circuits while current flows through them. Nosebleed?
Ganito yun, ang ACB ay proteksyon sa isang machine bago pa man ito masira.
Main functions ng ACB:
1) Open and close a 3 phase circuit, mapamanual man o automatic
2) Pinuputol kaagad ang circuit pag may under or over voltage, under or over frequency, short circuit, reverse power, earth fault etc.
3) Binabawasan nito yung arcing property pag may overloading (arcing means tuloy tuloy na pagdischarge ng current

Alternating current. AC : Eelctric current na pabalik balik ang direksyo; usually 50 or 60 cycles per second or 50//60 Hz. (Japan and other Asian countris: 50 Hz; Philippines and USA: 60 Hz)

Batteries: Backup para sa control system in case may blackout

Capacitance and Capacitor:
Capacitance: ability ng isang object to store electricity.
Capacitor : Consist of two electrical conductors (things that let electricity flow through them) with an insulator to separate them (a material that doesn't let electricity flow very well). Ito'y parang isang battery din. Ang kaibahan nga lang, ang naipong electrical energy sa battery sa dahan dahang nairerelease sa isang circuit, samantalang sa isang capacitor, ang naipong energy ay madaling mawala sa isang segundo lang, o mas mabilis pa.

Capacitor Bank: Grupo ng carapitors para makontrol ang boltahe na sinusupply para sa mga electrical consumers galing sa substations. Parallel connected capacitors provide increased capacitance at syempre, increased stored electrical energy. Nagpapataas din ito ng POWER FACTOR.

Conductivity:kakayanin ng isang materyal na magconduct ng isang electrical current, self - explanatory, hehehe

Conduits: Pwedeng rigid metal or plastic, proteksyon ng wiring sa isang circuit;

Control Panels: Utak ng isang system. Sa power transmission, andun ang metro, control switches at recorders.

Dielectric: Pag ang isang dielectric ay nasa isang circuit, electric charges do not flow through the material as they do in a conductor, so parang nasstock lang sila dun, thus getting the term "capacitance", tama ba..?
